Ultracargo, the largest Brazilian independent provider of integrated logistics solutions for bulk liquid storage, and Dislub, a company of Grupo Dislub Equador (GDE), entered a partnership regarding the provision of marine fuel oil bunkering operations at the Suape Port, located in the Metropolitan area of Recife (PE), already in operation.

The new service confers a marketing edge for companies of the maritime segment, since the new supply mode reduces the amount of the fuel load on vessels being therefore available to transport additional cargo, while at the same time reducing costs and optimizing journeys. This way, the bunkering services stimulate the Pernambuco and Northeast terminal´s competitiveness benefitting the pertinent business chain of companies operating in the maritime segment and logistics until the end consumer.

The Ultracargo bunker plant comprises 4 tanks with a capacity of 10,000 m3 each, providing a total available volume of 40,000 m3 for storage of fuel. The product is pumped from this plant to a barge at the Liquid Bulk Pier 1. After this, the barge can transfer the fuel sideways on ships.

The bunkering operation was announced during the ceremony held at the Suape Administration Center last Friday, August 30, with presence of Ultracargo Executives (Helano Pereira Gomes, Executive VP; Fernando Dihel, Chief Business Development Officer; and Marlos Tavares, Chief Commercial Officer); and from Dislub (Humberto Carrilho, shareholder; Leonardo Cerquinho, Chief Business Development Officer; and Antonio Barbará, Marine Fuel Head); from the Port Authority (Marcio Guiot, Port CEO), as well as other company directors from the company, public authorities in the segment and stakeholders of the port industry market.

“The partnership entered with Dislub will certainly contribute to the strategic placement of the Suape Port on the national market. Furthermore, the new business reflects our commitment to innovation and operational excellence, fundamental pillars for the company’s sustainable growth, and our plans to diversify the range of services we offer, contributing to the Brazil´s competitive potential,” emphasizes Helano Pereira, Ultracargo´s executive VP.

For Dislub´s Leonardo Cerquinho, the service comes to close a gap. “Due to the location and cargo concentration profile, the Suape Port has a natural demand for bunkering operations, and the new service will fill this gap, meeting market needs with quality and efficiency, and strengthening our presence in the segment,” he states.

In the opinion by Marcio Guiot, owner of Suape, the bunkering operations represent an additional appeal placing the port as a cargo concentrator and distributor for Brazil´s north and Northeast. “We expect to attract new customers and companies, which will result in the generation of new jobs and the consolidation of our port as a reference logistics hub in Brazil.”
