At the end of March, Ultracargo´s Aratu-Candeias complex in the state of Bahia received the visit of a team from the Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPor), led by the National Secretary of Ports, Alex Ávila.

At the meeting, Ultracargo´s executive vice-president, Helano Pereira, and the Terminal manager, Saulo Serbeto, introduced the company’s facilities and ongoing expansion projects, focused on safety and operational efficiency. MPor representatives were able to learn about Ultracargo’s logistic organization and bulk liquid handling initiatives that support the development of the port sector and the country´s economic growth.

The visit, which also included the Port of Santos (SP), was part of a broad agenda by the MPor to discuss infrastructure, governance, and the expansion of that port´s capacity.

“We are committed to the development of Brazil’s infrastructure and the ongoing search for increasingly safe and efficient operations. The visit by the team from the Ministry of Ports and Airports strengthens our strategic performance and contribution to the sector’s growth,” highlighted Helano Pereira.

Infrastructure investments
Ultracargo continues to work on projects for the bettering of its infrastructure, thus ensuring excellence of the services provided for its customers. Part of these initiatives include the construction of two railroad bypasses to improve the corridor linking São Paulo to Mato Grosso, which is essential for the efficient flow of agribusiness inputs and products, and enables greater agility in the transport of corn ethanol, reducing both costs and carbon emissions, as well as ensuring greater agility in the transportation of by-products and the realization of reverse flows, with trains going up and returning loaded with products.

In addition to the new loops, the company invested in the expansion of its operational and storage capacity at some of its terminals: in the first semester of 2025, Ultracargo will start operations at the Palmeirante facility (TO), that will connect itself, through the rail network, to the Itaqui Terminal (MA), optimizing the logistical flow in the North-Northeast corridor and facilitating the fuels and biofuels dispatching operation to the interior of the states of Maranhão, Tocantins and Pará.

“These projects improve the response capacity regarding the demands of the productive sectors and enable a more efficient logistics model, interconnected and aligned with sustainable practices, contributing directly to the ongoing development of Brazil’s logistics infrastructure,” concluded Ultracargo´s Executive VP.
