About the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program
Created in 2008, the initiative adapts the GHG Protocol to the Brazilian context and develops calculation tools for estimates of GHG in the country. The program was developed by the Sustainability Studies Center of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (Centro de Estudos em Sustentabilidade da Fundação Getulio VargasFGVces) and the World Resources Institute (WRI), in partnership with the Ministry of the Environment, the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (Conselho Empresarial Brasileiro para o Desenvolvimento Sustentável – CEBDS), the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBSCD) and 27 founding companies.

The main objective of the program is to foster a corporate culture of emission inventories in Brazil, promoting an agenda to cope with climate change in organizations. It also seeks to provide instruments and standards of international quality for accounting for emissions and publishing inventories, raising the level of transparency and environmental commitment of companies.
